Pedestrian or not? It’s up for your interpretation. via dailypost
Maybe I’m an excentric, but I prefer the term flaneur over pedestrian. The first time I stumbled upon this term was in university when we dicussed Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Man of the Crowd”. The illusive narrator takes the narratee by the hand as he becomes increasingly obsessed by a man in the crowded streets of London. Street after street, narrator and narratee drift through the sea of people as they follow the man in the crowd. Whenever I’m on the road, I cannot help but think of this short story. A stranger in a strange land, yet in that moment, I’m the crowd.
